September 2021: Neighborhood Newsletter

StreetHeart Project Awards

Some exciting new additions to the neighborhood have been taking place throughout the summer as
some of your neighbors work to complete the first round of StreetHeart Project Awards. A total of six projects were selected by our Resident Review Team including raised garden beds, a neighborhood dog waste station, a perennial flower planting party, neighborhood solar lights, some creative seating, and a kids party. Each of these projects were applied for by groups of neighbors coming together and creating positive changes to the neighborhood. Together these projects invested a total of $1,800 into our neighborhood!

StreetHeart Project Award Applications are now open for the second round of funding. Neighbors can find the guidelines and applications on the new StreetHeart website or by calling Neighborhood Coordinator, Kalli Dempsey, 517-652-3228 for more information.

StreetHeart is a neighborhood initiative from ECH Collaborative. ECH is a nonprofit supported by grants, donors and other contributions. ECH Collaborative funds various healthy neighborhood projects.

StreetHeart Front Porch Conversations

StreetHeart Neighborhood Coordinator Kalli Dempsey is currently scheduling Front Porch Conversations (virtual or in person) with neighbors to gain insight on what it is like for you and your family to live within your neighborhood. We are interested in hearing your ideas about neighborhood strengths and concerns, access to healthy activities within the neighborhood, and your own hopes for the future of your neighborhood. We can host this conversation virtually via ZOOM, or we can arrange for individual one on one meetings on your front porch.

To schedule your own Front Porch Conversation, you can sign up on our website MyStreetHeart.org, or call 517-652-3228.

StreetHeart Neighborhood Action Committee (SNAC) is looking for one representative from each block to join our team. If you are over the age of 16, and interested in getting involved with this group to provide Neighborhood input and help to make Neighborhood improvements reach out to Neighborhood Coordinator Kalli, for more information!
